Culling and Processing
Our engine, Discovery WorkFlow®, was built with a modular design that allows us to easily add or replace processing and culling technologies to meet specific or custom processing requirements. Through Discovery WorkFlow, TCDI technicians set the processing requirements to run in an automated workflow that distributes data to the appropriate processing application in the appropriate order.
In addition to functional capabilities, Discovery WorkFlow offers the benefit of speed and scalability by managing the distribution of work over a large farm of “server-soldiers.” This allows us to streamline processing based on individual project needs. Our ability to expand the processing environment as data volumes increase allows Discovery Workflow to optimize efficiencies while keeping performance levels consistent.
All electronic data collected is pre-processed by inventory and filtering modules. Client-defined culling parameters can then be applied to the pre-processed data, and only the data that meets a potentially relevant standard moves on to full processing and integration with the ClarVergence® review & production platform. If required, we can cull data using any metadata or text field available.
If, at any time, there is a need to vary the parameters used in data filtering, all collected data remains accessible for updating or data sampling. The output of any revised effort once again makes the transition into ClarVergence. If challenged, an automated audit trail is available to document and support the filtering criteria used, providing a defensible record of every document filtered in or out.
This integrated approach to data filtering and reduction provides greater flexibility and lower costs in a manner that is both automated and defensible.
In addition to inventory and filtering, Discovery WorkFlow is the engine where all other standard and advance processing takes place. Discovery WorkFlow can filter, de-duplicate, and extract metadata and text from more than 390 file types, including Lotus Notes databases and Exchange email. The modules are written to provide the greatest levels of data accuracy possible. For example, when processing Microsoft based documents, the actual Microsoft products, as opposed to third party data rendering software, are used to provide the most accurate renderings of the data possible. It also manages the backend processing needed to take advantage of many productivity enhancing document review capabilities such as concept based technologies, email threading, and near duplicate analysis.

All of TCDI’s ESI Processing takes place within secure networks, and each client’s data is authenticated to a specific, segregated SQL server. Full exception reporting is available and activity logs are maintained on every object in process. Throughout the Processing phase, TCDI’s staff performs multiple quality control checks and adheres to structured guidelines that ensure the security, integrity and availability of your data at all times.
