AI is the Student, Not the Teacher – The Importance of Human Driven TAR

Bill Gates once said that “technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important.”  If we think about that quote in terms of technology assisted review (TAR), the quote makes total sense. Members of my dev team and I were talking yesterday […]

Legal Spend Analytics: Manage Your Costs Using Lean Six Sigma

We were at the ACC Legal Operations conference this week in Chicago, and once again Legal Spend Analytics (LSA) was a big topic of discussion.  Attendees were from both large and small legal departments, and the issue exists for all of them.  Am I doing this as efficiently and inexpensively as possible? Although LSA is […]

TAR – It’s Not All or Nothing

As I’ve written about previously, Predictive Coding became a negative buzzword in our industry and has been recently replaced with the term AI.  When we speak about AI, most people are still talking about Predictive Coding whether they know it or not. Predictive Coding got this reputation for being a short cut or a risky […]

Telling Your Story Through Visual Analytics

We had clients in the office this week for a case management site implementation (kick-off and design session).  Throughout the full day meeting, the importance of data visualizations in the storytelling aspect of case strategy kept coming up and how technology can rise to the challenge kept impressing the users. As I’ve said in previous […]

Preparing Students for Life After Law School

Most law schools are still failing to add eDiscovery courses and options for experiential learning to their curriculum and core offerings.  Every law school website I go to says that they are committed to preparing their students for legal service, but can you really say this if you don’t teach them about the work they […]
