Running Legal Like a Business 2025 was a stellar event that primarily focused on legal department management, operations, and leadership. Curated and hosted by LegalOps.com, Connie Brenton, Jeff Franke, and their team have these events down to a science, including everything you need and nothing you don’t. Held at the amazing Fontainebleau Las Vegas, the layout, schedule, amenities, and variety of attendees made it a pleasure to attend.

I found the sessions to be wellbalanced and very accessible. But I must say that I mostly enjoyed connecting with old friends, meeting lots of new ones, and having the opportunity to learn and share what I’ve picked up over the years. Okay, and of course, I also loved the adorable puppies that were available for adoption (thank you Evan, Alli, and team at Checkbox Technology)!

Innovation Enhances Workflows

One of my favorite sessions was “Driving Cross Functional Innovation to Maximize Impact,” led by Emily Teuben of PayPal, Monique White of Genesys, and Teka Pope of The Walt Disney Company. They discussed the challenges that occur throughout an organization as differing priorities and responsibilities arise. Tools and tech that work well in one area may not fit another. They discussed how collaboration, sharing insights, and best practices can help increase efficiencies.

This reminded me of how effective and impactful TCDI’s Lean Six Sigma (LSS) culture and practices have benefited our team and our clients in these situations. At TCDI, LSS is more than just a toolkit; it’s a foundational mindset that powers how we operate, innovate, and deliver value. As an ingrained mindset, LSS workflows can assist with consistently delivering higher quality, more predictable outcomes to clients.

AI Empowers Our Workforce

AI was also a popular topic as you would expect, and it was nice to see the information shared through a variety of sessions that included demos, prompt training, and use cases. One key takeaway that stuck in my head was something Wei Chen of Infoblox said in her session, “How GC’s and Corporate C-Suites are looking at and Evaluating AI Opportunities.

She sharedIt’s not what AI can do for you, it’s about what it can lead you to do. Wow. As incredible as AI is as a tool, its meant to empower us to achieve more. People can never be removed from the equation. I look forward to a future in legal operations that leverages technology but continues to be driven by exceptional people.

Leaving Las Vegas

Running Legal Like a Business 2025 was a wonderful reminder of the power of community, collaboration, and innovation in shaping the future of legal operations. As I think back on the stand-out topics around cross-functional collaboration and the role of AI, one thing is clear: the future of legal isn’t just about smarter tools, but about how people use them to create real impact. I left Las Vegas energized, inspired, and grateful to be part of a community that is not only driving change but doing so with purpose.
