Situation
A law firm managing a corporate foreclosure litigation review faced a tight, court-ordered production deadline. The matter involved a document population of 163,880 documents that required review and quality control (QC) to be completed within three days.
The Client engaged TCDI’s Military Spouse Managed Review (MSMR) team to supplement their internal resources. Together, using a Continuous Active Learning approach, the teams were able to review more than 20,000 Responsive documents, completing review, QC, and production to meet their court mandated order.

Resolution
As details of the engagement were being finalized, TCDI’s MSMR team quickly assembled reviewers to ensure they could begin the project as soon as the client was ready. TCDI’s MSMR team began an initial analysis of the document population to identify patterns and distinguish those that were likely Responsive from Non-Responsive. From there, the team performed bulk tagging of obvious Non-Responsive documents to remove them from the Review queue. They also identified efficiencies that could be implemented and presented multiple query logs for Client approval.
Same-day QC allowed Reviewers to receive feedback on coding decisions within hours to ensure the Responsive documents could be discovered by the deadline while reinforcing consistency across the team. Targeted searches were created as necessary to address coding changes and keep the project on track.
On Day 2 of the engagement, due to the feedback and insights reviewers provided, the Client expanded the definition of what qualified as Responsive. TCDI’s MSMR team quickly incorporated the new criteria into the workflow and adjusted the QC process to ensure compliance with the updated guidance. Continuous communication between TCDI and the Client ensured that coding decisions remained consistent and defensible throughout the remainder of the review.
When the review queue was paused on Day 3 (which was actually Day 2.5 of Review), together with the Client’s internal resources, the MSMR team had completed review and QC, enabling the Client to meet the production deadline as planned.
Impact
By staying adaptable and adjusting workflows in real time, TCDI’s MSMR team completed the review of the full Responsive document set within the court-ordered three-day deadline. Engaging TCDI’s experienced team with strong AI expertise helped streamline the process, enabling faster, more accurate review.
Additionally, despite the quick turn and urgency, the MSMR team identified and implemented efficiencies that reduced total project costs by over $10,000. The Client provided positive feedback on both the quality of work and the responsiveness of the MSMR team and later requested TCDI’s input in refining the Continuous Active Learning model for future matters.
