Happy International Women’s Day to all the amazing women out there! Today, the world gets to celebrate the incredible strength and resilience of every woman. As a woman juggling a demanding career and multiple roles – mom, wife, daughter, and friend – I can honestly say it’s not always a walk in the park. But I’m fortunate to work for TCDI, a company that is flexible and supportive, which allows me to conquer it all with a smile (and some coffee).

This year’s International Women’s Day theme and challenge to us all is: “imagine a gender equal world.” And I can tell you from ten years of experience at TCDI, we don’t have to imagine it – we live it. In the words of Beyonce, “Who run the world? Girls!” At TCDI, women are definitely running things. In fact, 70% of our executive team is made up of women.

But let’s be real – being a woman in tech isn’t always easy. According to the World Economic Forum (2022), women in leadership positions in our industry stand at only 24%. That’s why this year’s theme of “Embrace Equity” resonates so deeply with me. We, at TCDI, stand proudly as proof that gender diversity in leadership positions is not only possible but necessary.

It’s no secret that the tech industry has historically been dominated by men. As a woman in tech, I’ve faced my fair share of obstacles. I’m fortunate that TCDI has always supported my role as a woman by providing the flexibility and support to balance my career, my family, and my own personal growth. I’m proud to be part of an organization that values gender equality and diversity, and I’m thankful that TCDI continues to recognize the unique perspectives and experiences that women bring to the table.

TCDI’s commitment to #EmbraceEquity means that we value diversity and inclusivity in everything we do. A prime example of TCDI embracing equity and supporting gender equity is the creation and continued success of the Military Spouse Managed Review (MSMR) program. The MSMR program provides military spouses with flexible career opportunities in the legal industry. This empowers military spouses (a population that is 95% female) to achieve career goals that would be difficult or even impossible without this type of support and flexibility.

TCDI’s female employees, along with millions of other trailblazing women in the world, have been breaking barriers and shattering glass ceilings left and right. We are analysts, designers, developers, project managers, CFOs, and everything in between. We are proof that gender should never be a barrier to success.

But after that work is done for the day, let’s not forget that we are also mothers, wives, partners, friends, daughters, and caregivers. We are the ones who make sure our families are fed, clothed, and loved. We are the ones who work long hours, and then still make the time to rush to our kids’ games, cook dinner, help with homework, and tuck them into bed. We are superheroes in our own right.

So today, we celebrate all of the amazing women in our lives – from our colleagues at TCDI, to our moms, sisters, and friends. Let’s continue working towards a gender-equal world where diversity is celebrated and difference is valued. Here’s to all the women who are crushing it in their careers and at home. To the ones who are fighting for equality, equity, and justice for today’s women. And to the ones who are raising the next generation of strong, independent women.

We may be tired, but we are never defeated. Happy International Women’s Day, ladies.

Keep shining!
