Over the past several weeks, it’s become clear that the legal industry is shifting. It is understandable that during this time, many may be wondering if we are going to change anything in reaction to the events that have hit our industry. Based on recent conversations I have had with law firms, clients, partners and those in my own community, I felt it was important to provide my thoughts on where we, as TCDI, stand in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis.

First and foremost, I want to assure our clients that we are committed to providing the same superior client experience you have come to know throughout our 31 year history. This is not the first storm we have weathered together…. 9/11, the 2008 recession, changes in technology, the explosion of electronic data… each bringing a unique set of challenges. We have been forced to adapt and evolve each time and have learned the key to resilience is to remain focused on the fundamentals on which TCDI was built: providing the highest level of technical experience, communicating simply and clearly, and exceeding expectations. The current challenge is no different. Everyone at TCDI is here for the long haul and we do not have time to worry about layoffs or cuts in service… we have work to do. We are strong, stable, well prepared and highly focused on getting both our team and our clients through this uncertain time.

It has been interesting to watch how our industry is reacting… unfortunately there has been restructuring, shifts, and even layoffs for our friends in the market. I have seen “marketing opportunities” with offers of sweetheart deals to change vendors and watched companies roll out remote review offerings with 2 or 3 weeks of thought. If you are like me, it just doesn’t feel right. There are so many more important things right now than which eDiscovery vendor you should be using. On a personal note, we have a team member whose entire family is working to recover from this ugly virus, and quite frankly, getting him back to full health ranks so much higher on my priority scale than trying to get one or two new clients in the door during a time of crisis. I like to believe that we are about our people, and our people include our clients. It is more important right now to focus on everyone’s health and to do all we can to keep everyone safe.

We have been here for 31 years, proving ourselves through the quality of our work and the partnerships we have built with our clients. When we have these fearful days in the rearview mirror, then we would love to talk to you about what working with TCDI means. In other words, we do not have a deal for you. What we have is our best wishes for you and your family’s health, and my promise that we will be here on the other side to bring you the best of TCDI.

Please accept my best wishes, I offer them sincerely.
