The article published in Bloomberg BNA: Digital Discovery & e-Evidence takes a look at the history and growth in sophistication of software platforms catering to the legal markets. The first challenge for these platforms was to accommodate large cases involving high volumes of electronically stored information (ESI), which left a vacuum of attention to the small to medium size firms with their bread and butter small cases. SaaS providers are now building solutions designed to address small cases but the simplicity in their approach still leaves these firms with less sophisticated solutions than required. The article explains how technology is addressing these issues, describes what to look for in an eDiscovery SaaS provider, and I give my prediction on what will happen over the next five years.
