As we wrap up the year, it feels fitting to highlight a theme that shows up everywhere at TCDI: commitment.
This month’s submissions paint a real picture of what commitment looks like. Sometimes, it’s decades of refining code and carrying institutional memory like a badge of honor. Sometimes, it’s choosing stability in a life that rarely offers it and finding a company that stands behind you. Sometimes, it’s joining the team and immediately seeing that people are invested in your success before you have even stepped through the door. As always, our people say it best, so let’s close out the year with their voices leading the way.

In software engineering, true commitment isn’t just about writing code; it’s about living with it. Over the past 20 years at TCDI, I’ve had the unique privilege of witnessing our systems evolve from their early iterations to the robust platforms they are today. Committing to a place for the long haul means more than shipping features and moving on. It’s about building a foundation, owning your architectural decisions, and constantly refining them to meet new challenges.
To me, commitment means adaptability. I’ve seen the technology landscape shift dramatically over my 40-year career, but the goal remains the same: solving real problems for our users. Staying with this company hasn’t meant standing still either. Rather, I’ve had the opportunity to evolve alongside a team I trust, ensuring that the institutional knowledge we’ve built translates into better, more reliable software for the future.

As a military spouse, much of our lives are unpredictable and ever-changing. As a result, commitment is a key aspect to navigating the hardships we face. We see our spouse’s commitment to the military and our country. We have a commitment to support our spouse and family through all that military life entails (deployments, moves, separation from family and friends). We see commitment in others through the support of our family, friends, and country. I have also seen commitment throughout my time working for TCDI.
TCDI has consistently shown its commitment to the military community and military spouses. I am extremely grateful to work for a company that values our military and military spouses. TCDI has supported me and my family through three moves, countless training exercises, military travel/school, and the variable nature of military life. This commitment to military spouses and the MSMR program has allowed me to support my family throughout my husband’s military service.

As an equestrian, committed means a lot of things: committing to late nights, even earlier mornings, committing to ensuring the horse before the sport, etc. But here at TCDI it means so much more.
Committed means making sure all the players are in the room, and that everyone understands all the pieces so we have the best software and solutions going out for our clients. It means that we have on-call staffing for support, developers searching for best possible solutions, and a testing team committed to ensuring defects are found before going to production.
Committed is a well-rounded company goal with a world of possibilities.
Eric Toder | Vice President, Legal Services
Business Development Team
What does Committed at TCDI mean? For me, committed at TCDI began before I even started.
My interview process was fast and furious as I met with every leader and potential teammate that was necessary over a 2-week period. While we got to meet each other over numerous Teams calls, I learned as much as I could about TCDI, the culture, capabilities, client and project management support, and plans for growth. I saw that they were committed to bringing me on board and making sure that I would have what I needed to be successful.
Committed continued throughout the 2-week Onboarding process, from spending face-to-face time with various team leaders to learning the necessary systems and processes required to do my job. We followed an ambitious agenda during 3 days in Greensboro, NC that included Teams calls introductions, on time meal and coffee breaks and dinners that included time with our Founder, Bill Johnson.
After nearly six months of being at TCDI that Commitment has only strengthened as I have seen firsthand how quickly and thoroughly leadership has responded to my needs and requests, always in doing what’s best for the client. I see the commitment to honoring opinions and viewpoints that may be different but never ignored or dismissed. And I have seen the commitment to supporting the Business Development team to equip us with the tools, support, and resources to meet our collective goals.
I am committed to making sure that all the effort and time that has been dedicated to support me and our clients is considered worth the investment that was made.
